Purpose of the Program:
The Synergistic Parenting and Divorce program is designed to help divorced, separated, or never married parents who do not live together, develop the necessary tools to design a parenting plan that will approximate, as closely as possible, parent-child relationships in the two parent home. It will allow both parents to establish equal rights with respect to their childrens welfare and upbringing, as well as active responsibilities within the daily routines of their childrens care and development.
Synergistic Parenting and Divorce is an education-based support program that gives divorcing parents the power to make positive changes and shield their children from parental conflict. The goal of the program is to help the parents into establishing a long-term relationship with the childs other parent.
How the program works:
Facilitated by a trained parent educator, the 8-week program is part video and part group discussion. It is recommended for groups of 8-10 parents. The program educates parents on the impact their conflict has on their children, explains childrens issues in divorce, teaches parents the practical skills they need to manage anger, increase impulse control, resolve conflict and talk to each other without arguing.
